Kings Canyon is at the western end of George Gill Range in the Watarrka National Park, 1,316 kilometres south of Darwin and 323 kilometres southwest of Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory.

With the canyon's walls more than 100 metres high, and the gorge bottom being the cold clear waters of Kings Creek, Kings Canyon is a spectacular sight. Nestled beneath wide blue skies, you can take one of three walks that showcase different aspects of the canyon. The two kilometre Kings Creek Walk is a loop that circumnavigates the bottom of the gorge, taking about an hour and finishing at a platform with magnificent views of the rising canyon walls. The Kings Canyon Rim Walk is a six kilometre loop, which follows the top of the canyon, taking around four  hours to complete. The start of the climb is very steep and should only be tackled by fit, experienced hikers. A small detour half way along the walk leads to the Garden of Eden, a waterhole surrounded by verdant plant life. Toward the latter half of the walk, a spectacular landscape of sandstone domes comes into view.

The third walk is a 22-kilometre hike that connects Kings Canyon to Kathleen Springs. Known as the Giles Track, it's a walk recommended only for the most experienced. Visitors are advised to stay on the marked walking tracks, as sections of the gorge are sacred Aboriginal sites and should not be accessed by the general public.
