You cannot talk about Australian wine without paying homage to the Barossa Valley. This infamous wine region is one of the world’s finest wine growing areas and thousands of visitors attend the region yearly for the sole purpose of indulging in Barossa wines and other culinary delights. The region’s fine foods and wines, combined with its stunningly picturesque landscapes and friendly, laid back atmosphere attracts such a large variety of visitors – young and old – as there’s so much to do in this wonderful region.

The scenic wonderland of patchwork vineyards overlaying rolling valleys and hills are dotted with small villages straight out of a German fairytale book. Historical buildings and cottages in many fashions sit in perfect restoration alongside old stone churches, olde world thatch roofed barns, bare wood fences and flora of amazing colours, creating a huge drawcard for photographers.

The locals are extremely tourist friendly and – no matter where you go – you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome, country hospitality and a good glass of red at every farm stay, bed and breakfast and cellar door. The locals are also the best folk to ask about those hidden delights that may not show up on the GPS device or road map, so don’t be shy.

Regardless of the other amazing features of the Barossa Valley, you’re most likely interested in visiting to taste those amazing wines, such as the world renowned Barossa Valley Shiraz and Eden Valley Riesling. Don’t forget to pair them up with some of the equally famous regional produce that makes this area such an outstanding destination!
